Testing and Trials after building and constructing a ship… Part (2)

OK. Let’s continue…

In the last part, I’ve briefly explained the types of Trials and some general trial activities as well as the acceptance or rejection notice by the owner’s party and the remedies taken for defects by the ship builder.

For the delivery of vessel, certain documents and certificates will have to be prepared by each and every party. Below are the general list of certificates prepared by each party.

The Classification Society,

1. Seaworthy certificate,

2. Load line certificate,

3. Anchors, chains, and towlines certificate,

4. Hull classification certificate,

5. Loading manual, as required,

6. Machinery classification certificate,

7. Safety construction certificate,

8. Inspection certificates,

9. Stability letter,

10. Safety equipment certificate,

11. Trim and stability book,

12. Certificate of admeasurement,

13. Official number certificate,

14. Home port certificate,

15. Tonnage certificates, etc…

The Shipbuilder or The Shipyard,

1. Protocol of trials of vessel,

2. Protocol of inventory of equipments of vessel including spare parts,

3. Protocol of stores of consumables nature,

4. Master carpenter’s certificate,

5. Certificate of deadweight,

6. List of cargo gears,

7. List of instruction books and

8. List of plans, etc…

Owner of the Vessel

1. Power of attorney,

2. Receipt for documents,

3. Receipt for vessel, etc…

After concerned parties sign document for delivery and acceptance of the vessel, the ship will soon set out on her maiden voyage with the blessings from the builder, the owner and other sides who have contributed towards the creation of her grandeur and splendor.

I’ll pause my post here. In the next posts, I’ll list the about the activities conducted in the sea trial, of course with some explanation.
